Questions and answers

How do I use the app?

Open the app and the front camera starts with a random filter. Swipe left or right to change filter. Tap the big button at the bottom to take a photo. It is saved to the Photos app.

The screen is black

The app needs the camera. Open Settings, tap Sillyfie and turn on Camera. Then close and open the app again.

My photos are not saved

The app needs permission to add photos. Open Settings, tap Sillyfie, then Photos, and choose "Add Photos Only". You find the photos in the Photos app, under Recents.

The "Shout!" filter does not react

This filter uses the microphone to hear how loud you are. Open Settings, tap Sillyfie and turn on Microphone. Nothing is recorded. The app only measures the sound level.

I can not find the magic portraits

Magic portraits use Apple Intelligence (Image Playground). They only show up on iPhones and iPads that support Apple Intelligence, with iOS 18.4 or newer, and with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings. On other devices these filters are hidden, and all the other filters work as normal.

How do I keep my kid inside the app?

Use Guided Access, which is built into iPhone and iPad:

  1. Open Settings, then Accessibility, then Guided Access. Turn it on and set a passcode.
  2. Open Sillyfie.
  3. Press the side button (or Home button) three times, then tap Start.
  4. To stop, press three times again and type your passcode.
Which devices does it work on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or newer. On older devices, the filters that cut you out of the background switch to a faster mode by themselves, so they may look a bit rougher.

Does the app collect any data?

No. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and the app does not use the internet. Read the privacy policy for the details.

Are there ads or in-app purchases?

No. There are no ads and no in-app purchases.
